A Christmas was released in the Fall of '99. The Navidad project consists of 2 separate albums that will have ties to one another. A Christmas and A Gift.

The first album is a suite of Christmas songs arranged by Matt Messina for his orchestra. The orchestra grew in size for the year and the bill was slated to feature a 90-person children's choir, Didgireedoo, and a special percussionist (AKA, a little drummer boy). 2 months before the recording the Mercer Island unfortunately had to cancel due to an accident. He replaced them with 3 talented female sopranos and one singing little drummer boy. He chose the songs he grew up listening to around the holiday season and has arranged them in his recognizable style.

The complimentary album is a suite of piano solos of many of the same Christmas songs from the orchestral album. This is an intimate, patient and pleasant holiday album. An album that appreciates new versions of recognizable holiday favorites.

Both albums were released in November 1999. CD releases, In-store performances, concerts, and CD release parties followed throughout the fall. .................(back to albums)
